Committed to Community
Impact through Strategic Giving and Active Engagement.
We are driven by the belief that our efforts can create lasting change. As we look to the future, we remain committed to supporting communities and people who need it most, empowering them to thrive and prosper.
Areas of Focus
-
Health is the foundation of a vibrant and happy life. We endeavor to support research, education and opportunities that allow all to thrive with energy and joy. This is especially true of lesser-known diseases such as Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, where we are focused on improving the care for patients afflicted with this poorly understood condition in Canada, the US and around the world. We have a special interest in supporting the evolvement of neurological and neurosurgical care in the field of Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome but will also consider research focused on comorbidities in relationship with EDS and HSD. These include but are not limited to Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS), Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) and other forms of Dysautonomia, Eye involvement, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Urogenital and Pelvic complications, and Dental manifestations.
-
Housing is a fundamental human need, providing stability, security, and a sense of belonging, which are essential for personal well-being and community development. We strive to help families build strength, and self-reliance through better, more affordable housing.
-
We honour the Hawkins’ family roots by investing in skilled trades education. Recognizing both the current shortage of trades professionals and the significant opportunities available in these fields, our Foundation has funded scholarships and programs to highlight the diverse careers a skilled trades education can offer.
We recognize there are countless worthwhile initiatives that require support. While our primary pillars of Healthcare, Housing and Skilled Trades remain our focus, we also support charities with interests that align to our board’s personal interests.
